On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, President of Fight Aids Monaco, met with Mrs. Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), during a two-day working visit to the Principality. Following a formal audience with H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the visit continued with an extensive presentation of Fight Aids Monaco at its premises. Mrs. Winnie Byanyima thanked H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie by presenting her with an honorary plaque for her role as UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador and for her strong commitment as President of Fight Aids Monaco. “We are a small country, but we can achieve great things,” stated H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie. She added, “Our association is a place where everyone is treated with dignity and without judgment. Fight Aids Monaco is about giving life.” Mrs. Byanyima was able to discover the work carried out by H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie and her teams, and meet Mrs. Christine Barca and Mrs. Sabine Steiner-Toesca, respectively Secretary General and Treasurer, the association’s staff, accompanying volunteers, as well as the affiliates, those for whom H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie has been committed to for the past 20 years. It was an opportunity for Mrs. Byanyima to greet them and take the time to exchange with them on a more personal level. To conclude this meeting, a quilt, made by the association’s affiliates, was displayed in tribute to those who have died from AIDS.
