One of the most anticipated events on the French Riviera begins today, June 19, 2026. Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is launching its traditional Saint John Festival, a celebration that will enliven the picturesque Mediterranean village until June 24 with a rich program of cultural events, local traditions, sporting activities and entertainment.
For generations, this festival has been one of the community’s most important annual gatherings, attracting residents, visitors and families in an atmosphere that blends heritage, conviviality and local identity.
The 2026 edition places a strong focus on preserving and showcasing local heritage. One of the highlights is the exhibition “Histoire vivante du patrimoine de San Juan,” hosted at the Espace Neptune and open to visitors until June 28.
Through photographs, historical documents and personal testimonies, the exhibition retraces the evolution of the village and the people who shaped its identity over time. It offers visitors the chance to discover a lesser-known side of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, often celebrated for its stunning coastline and prestigious seaside villas.
The official opening of the festival is marked by the traditional Manjuca, a large communal banquet held every year at the Théâtre sur la Mer.
This popular gathering celebrates the flavors of Niçoise cuisine, accompanied by live music and dancing that officially launch the festivities. It perfectly embodies the spirit of the Saint John Festival: sharing, meeting and preserving local traditions.
Throughout the following days, visitors can enjoy religious celebrations dedicated to Saint John, folkloric parades, commemorative ceremonies and official events that reflect the strong connection between the community and its roots.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat’s deep bond with the Mediterranean will be highlighted on June 21.
The Cros deï Pin beach will host paddleboarding, kayaking and Optimist sailing competitions, alongside workshops and activities designed for children. Among the most eagerly awaited events is the traditional pointus regatta, featuring the iconic Provençal fishing boats that symbolize the region’s maritime heritage.
Throughout the festival, a funfair in Place du Centenaire will provide entertainment for families and visitors of all ages.
The most enchanting moment of the festival will take place on June 24, the final day of celebrations.
At sunset, the traditional lantern procession will begin, one of the festival’s most beloved traditions. Children and families will walk through the village streets carrying lanterns toward the old lighthouse, creating a magical atmosphere.
The evening will continue with a maritime tribute and the lighting of the traditional Saint John bonfire in front of the church dedicated to the patron saint. This ancient ritual celebrates the arrival of summer and remains one of the most meaningful moments for the local community.
The festivities will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display over the sea, visible from the harbor, beaches and scenic viewpoints across the peninsula.
Combining folklore, culture, sports, gastronomy and entertainment, the Saint John Festival remains one of the French Riviera’s most cherished events.
For six days, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat becomes the stage for a tradition that continues to evolve while preserving its authenticity, offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience the true spirit of the Mediterranean coast.
