The French Riviera is gearing up for three thrilling days of pétanque with one of the summer’s most anticipated sporting events: the 9th International de Pétanque Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur. From August 1 to 3, 2025, Nice transforms into the world capital of pétanque, welcoming around 1,500 players from six different nations, ready to battle it out in an atmosphere of excitement and sportsmanship.
Organized by the Cercle Artistique et Sportif des Eaux (CASE) with the support of the City of Nice, the tournament will turn some of the city’s most iconic locations into open-air arenas: from the Promenade des Anglais, where dozens of boulodromes will be set up, to the prestigious Carré d’Honneur in Place Masséna, the beating heart of the event.
The program promises three days of high-level competitions, kicking off on Friday with team registrations and an official opening evening. Saturday will see the start of the main tournaments, featuring the “triplette senior” and the National Féminin, both qualifying stages for the Masters and PPF circuits. Sunday will be dedicated to young players and the final rounds, with an action-packed day of quarterfinals, semifinals, and grand finals, followed by the official award ceremony late in the evening.
More than just a tournament, the International de Pétanque is a true celebration of sport, blending competition and conviviality in a stunning Mediterranean setting of sea, sunshine, and spectacular views. A must-see event for anyone who loves this emblematic French pastime.
