The Principality of Monaco participated on June 15 and 16 in the first Summit for Peace in Ukraine organized by Switzerland at the request of Ukraine, at Bürgenstock near Lucerne (Switzerland).
Represented by Mrs. Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ, Government Counselor-Minister for External Relations and Cooperation, accompanied by H.E. Mrs. Carole LANTERI, Ambassador to the Swiss Federal Council, the Principality was among the 100 countries and international organizations that responded to the invitation. About fifty Heads of State and Government from all continents attended this event.
The goal of this Summit was to give momentum to the peace process, instill confidence, and create a perspective for subsequent stages during which Russia may be involved.
The discussions were organized around three main themes, representing major global challenges:
At the end of the Summit, the States adopted a declaration reaffirming the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, as well as the common vision that emerged during the discussions on the three mentioned themes. Finally, the participants agreed to continue the efforts undertaken. On the sidelines of this Summit, Mrs. BERRO-AMADEÏ met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Dmytro KULEBA. The latter wanted to thank the Principality for the support provided both bilaterally and within the multilateral framework.
