The Principality of Monaco is preparing to welcome one of the most refined and anticipated events of spring: the 8th International New Roses Competition, scheduled for Thursday 30 April 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the famous Roseraie Princesse Grace.
The event, organised by the Association of Friends of the Roseraie Princesse Grace, chaired by Yves Piaget, in collaboration with the Urban Planning Department of the Government of the Principality, is an international occasion dedicated to excellence in horticulture and the creation of new rose varieties.
A unique opportunity for botany enthusiasts, industry professionals, and visitors who wish to experience Monaco through one of its most symbolic and evocative locations.
Located in the heart of the Principality, the Roseraie Princesse Grace is one of Monaco’s most beloved places. This elegant botanical garden, dedicated to Princess Grace, hosts hundreds of rose varieties from around the world and has become over the years a symbol of refinement, harmony, and natural heritage.
The International New Roses Competition enhances this identity, transforming the rose garden into an international showcase of botanical innovation and floricultural research.
The 2026 edition will feature sixteen international breeders and hybridisers from eight countries: France, Germany, Poland, Japan, the United States, Italy, Denmark, and Belgium.
A total of 70 new rose varieties will be presented, divided into the main competition categories:
Each variety will be evaluated based on key characteristics such as fragrance, resistance, elegance, botanical innovation, and ornamental value, confirming the international prestige of the event.
One of the most interesting aspects of the competition is the presence of two separate judging panels: the International Jury, composed of experts and professionals from the horticultural sector, and the Amateur Jury, made up of enthusiasts and observers sensitive to the beauty and sensory experience of the rose.
During the day, it will be possible to meet jury members and participants in a convivial moment accompanied by the traditional “friendship drink,” making the event even more engaging and open to the public.
This encounter between technical expertise and personal passion makes the competition truly unique.
Great anticipation also surrounds the presentation of the two most prestigious awards of the event.
The Coupe du Parfum, offered by the City of Monaco, will be awarded to the rose with the most extraordinary and distinctive fragrance, celebrating one of the flower’s most captivating qualities.
The Trophée PIAGET ROSE, offered by Piaget, is one of the emblematic prizes of the event and highlights the link between botanical excellence and Monegasque luxury.
The names of the winning breeders will be officially announced at the end of the deliberations in a final press release.
The International New Roses Competition once again confirms Monaco’s role as a destination of excellence, not only for luxury and major international events, but also for high-level cultural and botanical gatherings.
Spring 2026 in the Principality is thus enriched by an event that combines nature, elegance, and tradition, attracting visitors from across Europe and professionals from the floricultural world.
The Roseraie Princesse Grace once again becomes the green heart of Monaco, where the beauty of roses…
