On May 23, 2026, the city of Menton will host the fourth edition of the Fête de la biodiversité et du développement durable, a public event dedicated to environmental awareness, biodiversity protection, and the promotion of sustainable practices.

Now a key date in the city’s calendar, the event brings together institutions, associations, experts, and citizens through an extensive program of educational and interactive activities designed for all ages.

The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity while encouraging responsible behavior in support of ecological transition and urban quality of life.


A major event for biodiversity and sustainable development in Menton

The Menton Biodiversity Festival reflects the city’s broader commitment to concrete and participatory sustainable development. It offers a meeting point for citizens, environmental experts, associations, and organizations working to protect natural ecosystems.

Throughout the day, visitors will find information stands, workshops, scientific conferences, and hands-on activities focused on nature, recycling, sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem preservation.


Menton Biodiversity Festival 2026 Program

The day begins at 9:30 AM with the “Fleurissons la ville” competition, celebrating the most beautiful gardens, terraces, urban green spaces, and vegetable gardens in the city.

At 10:00 AM, the conference “How to create living, resilient and long-lasting soil through composting” will be held, followed by a series of workshops including:

  • beeswax candle making
  • kokedama creation (Japanese moss ball art)
  • citrus grafting demonstrations
  • aloe vera cultivation and uses workshops

At 11:00 AM, the Art Bonsaï Club will host a talk on the history and evolution of bonsai culture, followed by a session on sustainable lemon cultivation in Menton.

Throughout the morning and afternoon, additional workshops and educational activities will focus on sustainability, craftsmanship, and environmental awareness.


Afternoon conferences and educational activities

At 2:00 PM, the conference “The magic of plants: from prehistoric uses to today” will explore the relationship between archaeology and herbal medicine.

At 3:00 PM, the French Office for Biodiversity will present a talk on rivers, their ecological functions, and the services they provide to humans.

At 4:00 PM, the wildlife rescue center Instinct Animal will introduce its work, followed by creative workshops and children’s activities.

The day will conclude at 4:45 PM with the awards ceremony for the photography competition dedicated to biodiversity.
