FR ALERT: Friday morning, tsunami alert exercise on the French Riviera

On January 19, from 10 am to 12 pm, the Prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes will conduct a tsunami alert exercise involving the population through the new “FR-Alert” information system. This system enables the dissemination of an alert message accompanied by a sound signal on mobile phones.

The system was recently used during the passage of Storm Aline in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The dissemination of this alert message along the French coast, via the relay antennas of telephone operators, could lead to geographical spread, also affecting residents of the Principality of Monaco.

As it is a simple exercise, the alert message will not require a specific response or behavior from the population. Therefore, it is requested not to overload emergency lines 18 and 112 to obtain information.
