On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July, the Prato Pussai area in Carrega Ligure will host “Il Festival in Fiera,” the fourth event of the fifth edition of the traveling festival Appennino Futuro Remoto. A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of the Apennines through two days of meetings, workshops, performances, walks, music, and conviviality.

The festival kicks off on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with the opening of stands offering local products and the start of the workshops. Among them: “Rare Dances of Piedmont” with Paola Comola and Enzo Conti, and a walk for children with Alpina and Moretta, the mules of MAmBaye, to learn how to care for them through an experiential workshop.

A meeting with Michael Bolognini of Method, who undertook a solo expedition without a tent to the Arctic Circle, will reveal the features of this extreme adventure that challenges human limits. Children can craft a theatrical mask with Equivochi’s “Ti conosco Mascherina”. Everyone is welcome to test their skills at archery in Robin Hood’s meadow, and adults can try axe throwing. Francesca Marchelli will guide adults in forest yoga at Bosco Primo Passo. Also on Saturday, at 6 p.m., “Il Tesoro verde” will lead a discovery hike to learn about wild herbs with Francesco Marini of PEFC.

Throughout the two days, live music will accompany visitors thanks to the roving musicians of Bandarotta Fraudolenta, a dynamic and eclectic marching band. Traditional music takes the spotlight with the concert “Tra cel e Tera” by Tre Martelli, one of the most iconic Piedmontese folk revival bands, approaching their 50th anniversary with hundreds of performances to their name.

At 8:30 p.m., a special preview: a documentary film by Squeasy Film showcasing part of the Appennino Futuro Remoto project.

This fifth edition will also feature Street Food with a wide selection of dishes and drinks for all.

“Una Carrega per 5” is the title of the comedy show at 9:30 p.m., bringing the audience into the world of Genoese humor with Andrea Possa, Marco Rinaldi, Andrea Di Marco, Enzo Paci, and Daniele Raco.

“We aim to offer a wide variety of proposals,” says Artistic Director Laura Parodi, “to attract a diverse audience of all ages and help everyone discover this beautiful territory. As always, an area is available for campers, for those who want to camp, and for those who book in time, camping tents are available free of charge by writing to info@appenninofuturoremoto.it. It’s a major organizational effort, especially considering the difficulties caused by the landslide since 2022 that still prevents residents and workers from returning to a dignified rhythm and standard of living.”

Sunday brings more workshops: “Nature on Paper”, a drawing lab for adults with Clara Guerrini, and the Connio Dances workshop with Michele Cavenago and Romana Barbui, the Ballerini del Connio, Fabio Paveto, and Fabrizio Ferrari.

Walter Massa and Ezio Poggio, leading producers and experts, will guide visitors in discovering Timorasso, a local wine they helped bring to international recognition through their hard work.

At 3 p.m., cultural and visual anthropologist Andrea Staid (NABA, Universidad de Granada) will discuss his book “Dare forme al mondo – Per un design multi naturalista” with Giacomo D’Alessandro.

Grand finale on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. with the highly anticipated concert by Gio Evan, as part of his national tour. The writer, singer, and poet will be preceded by a performance from Caterina Cropelli.

All events are free to attend. Workshop registration is required by writing to: informazioni.afr@gmail.com.

“We are now at the fifth edition of the Festival and expect a good turnout for this next event,” says Mayor Luca Silvestri. “The program is excellent, with something for all age groups. This year we welcome Gio Evan, and as in every edition, we manage to bring nationally recognized guests to Carrega. ‘Appennino Futuro Remoto’ is part of the Borghi initiative by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the PNRR. The goal is to continue the project for years to come.”
