Last Friday, March 28, with an exciting inauguration ceremony, the new Box98 recreational center opened its doors in preview to a select audience of guests and sports figures. The event, held in Fontvieille, marked the realization of an ambitious project conceived by Monegasque driver Clivio Piccione.
Today, April 1, Box98 officially welcomes the public, occupying the space that once housed the prestigious Prince of Monaco’s Car Collection. The grand opening was attended by Prince Albert II, accompanied by Princess Charlène, along with members of the royal family, including Louis and Marie Ducruet, Camille Gottlieb, and Gareth Wittstock. Numerous sports personalities also joined the event, including world No.1 cyclist Tadej Pogacar and Formula 1 drivers Carlos Sainz Jr., Stoffel Vandoorne, and Nyck de Vries. Some had the chance to test the karting track, while others, like David Coulthard, who recently suffered a collarbone fracture, watched from the sidelines.
Box98 Monaco redefines the concept of sports entertainment with a state-of-the-art complex dedicated to driving and innovation. Spanning 4,700 square meters, the center combines motorsports, immersive technologies, and a wide range of activities for all ages.
The project, born from the vision of Clivio Piccione and developed by a team of 15 professionals led by Anthony Somma, took shape following the success of the indoor karting facility at Parking des Pêcheurs. With the support of the Monaco Government, Box98 was completed in just three months, thanks to the efforts of over 30 technicians and specialists.
The highlight of Box98 is its innovative circuit, designed by renowned expert Paolo Gagliardini. Measuring 400 meters, the track replicates the thrill of a Grand Prix, featuring tight turns, ascents, and descents. The special resin surface ensures optimal grip, while patented side protections provide maximum safety.
The facility boasts 30 state-of-the-art Sodikart electric karts, suitable for all ages and equipped with digital screens for lap times and performance data. In addition to karting, Box98 offers a diverse range of attractions, including professional simulators, remote-controlled mini buggies, arcade games, bowling, and billiards. A cutting-edge audiovisual system with LED screens and digital totems enhances the experience, making Box98 a premier entertainment destination in Monaco.
