The European Heritage Days are a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover the country’s cultural heritage. This 30th edition will focus on the theme of “Architectural Heritage”, which, in Monaco, is rich, diverse, and representative of the evolution of architectural practice throughout history.
The Principality has been participating in this pan-European initiative since 1996, launched jointly by the Council of Europe and the European Union. Celebrated in more than 50 countries, the Heritage Days attract nearly 30 million visitors each year, gathered around more than 70,000 events.
On this occasion, a cross-border itinerary will be organized on Saturday, October 4th, with a visit to Villa Eilenroc, a neoclassical-style villa located on Cap d’Antibes.
On Sunday, October 5th, more than thirty sites and institutions will exceptionally open their doors to visitors, allowing them to discover Monaco’s cultural heritage.
Many events will punctuate this day, including construction site tours, children’s workshops at Studios de la Costa to introduce the youngest to questions of spatiality, as well as architectural walks highlighting both monuments and lesser-known architecture.
This year, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Heritage Institute will, for the first time, welcome Jean-Philippe HUGRON, journalist and architectural historian, author of Guide d’architecture Monaco: Beausoleil – Roquebrune-Cap Martin (2021), who will present two itineraries: “Art Nouveau, Art Deco, New Modernities” and “In Monaco, the Tradition of Novelty.”
