Drivers, residents and public transport users in Monaco should prepare for temporary traffic disruption over the coming weeks. From Wednesday 4 November to Friday 4 December 2026, the Principality’s Department of Urban Development (Direction de l’Aménagement Urbain – DAU) will carry out a programme of road maintenance and resurfacing works across several major streets.
The aim is to improve road conditions and enhance traffic safety. To allow the works to proceed, temporary traffic arrangements will be introduced, including road closures, alternative routes and restrictions on access to certain car parks.
Most of the work will be carried out overnight, when traffic volumes are generally lower. The programme is divided into two main phases: 4–7 November and 23 November–4 December.
Temporary road signs and information notices will be installed throughout the affected areas, including at the entrances to nearby buildings, to keep residents and motorists informed.
Emergency vehicles and law enforcement services will retain access to all areas whenever necessary. Pedestrian routes will also remain open and clearly signposted to ensure safe passage.
Some urban and regional bus services will be affected by diversions, mainly from 8 pm onwards. Changes will concern services operated by the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco (CAM) and the regional ZOU! network.
Updated information about routes and stops will be provided directly by the respective transport operators.
The first phase will affect Avenue Prince Pierre, Rue Grimaldi and Place d’Armes. Works are scheduled overnight from 4 to 7 November, between 6 pm and 6 am, with traffic restrictions mainly coming into force from 8 pm, particularly along Rue Grimaldi.

The Place d’Armes roundabout will be closed. However, the Dorsale, Rainier III and Albert II tunnels will remain open.
To reach Monaco-Ville, also known as Le Rocher, drivers will need to use the Serravalle Tunnel and continue along Avenue du Port, where traffic will be managed manually. Vehicles leaving Le Rocher will only be able to exit via Avenue du Port.
Further roadworks are scheduled on Boulevard du Larvotto during the night of 23–24 November, from 8 pm to 1 am.
Access to and exit from the des Sources car park will remain unaffected.
Residents and users of the des Carmes car park will still be able to reach their destination via a manually controlled traffic system operating from the Avenue de Grande-Bretagne roundabout.
This is one of the areas most affected by the resurfacing programme. Works along Avenue Princesse Grace will take place over several nights, with changing traffic arrangements and access restrictions affecting hotels, buildings and car parks in the area.

Access to the Testimonio I, Bahia and Sporting car parks will be permitted until midnight, although delays of up to 20 minutes may occur. Entry will be prohibited from midnight until 6 am.

Between the Jardin Exotique roundabout and Rue Honoré Labande, traffic will instead be managed manually.
The road resurfacing programme is scheduled to finish on 4 December 2026. For approximately one month, anyone travelling by car through the Principality will need to pay particular attention to overnight closures, diversions and temporary restrictions affecting car parks.
The Department of Urban Development advises residents and motorists to follow the temporary signs installed in the affected areas and the notices displayed near the construction sites.
Before travelling, especially during the evening and overnight hours, it is advisable to check the latest traffic and public transport updates and plan journeys accordingly, avoiding roadwork areas wherever possible.
