Monaco is strengthening its early childhood services with the official opening of the Ida Nursery, a new facility providing 30 additional places for young children in the Principality. The inauguration took place on Tuesday, 13 October, at the Héméra residence in the Condamine district, in the presence of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène.

The ceremony brought together several Monegasque officials, including Minister of State Christophe Mirmand, Mayor Georges Marsan and Nathalie Vaccarezza, municipal councillor responsible for Early Childhood and Families. The nursery, which has been welcoming children since 2 September, addresses the growing need for childcare services and support for families living in the Principality.

Ida Nursery in Monaco: Modern Facilities and a Dedicated Team

The Ida Nursery covers 700 square metres of indoor space, complemented by a 140-square-metre terrace. The facility has been designed to accommodate young children and expand the range of municipal services available to families.

A team of 13 childcare professionals, led by Manon Deloison, is responsible for the children’s care. Dedicated staff and carefully organised spaces are key features of the new nursery, which aims to meet families’ everyday childcare needs.

The name “Ida” also preserves a link with the area’s history. It recalls a historic villa that once stood on the same site, keeping the memory of the Condamine district alive.

A New Childcare Service to Support Families in La Condamine

During the ceremony, Mayor Georges Marsan highlighted the role of the Ida Nursery within the municipality’s family support policies. Expanding childcare services is an important part of the local authorities’ commitment to improving residents’ quality of life.

Nathalie Vaccarezza also emphasised the nursery’s location in a residential area close to several state-owned residential buildings and within easy reach of the Ile aux Bambins nursery. Its location helps strengthen the network of childcare facilities in this part of the Principality.

Monaco Plans to Expand Nursery Provision by 2030

The opening of the Ida Nursery is part of a broader strategy developed jointly by Monaco’s municipality and government to anticipate early childhood childcare needs through to 2030.

The plan provides for a gradual increase in available places, including through the construction of new nurseries as part of future state-owned property developments. The aim is to plan services according to families’ needs and keep pace with changes in the Principality’s residential landscape.

With the addition of 30 places at the new nursery, the total capacity of Monaco’s municipal nurseries has reached 430 places. This expansion strengthens public childcare provision and confirms the Monegasque authorities’ commitment to supporting families and developing early childhood services throughout the Principality.
