Monaco Takes Part in First International Space Summit in Paris

On September 9 and 10, 2026, the Government of Monaco and the Embassy of Monaco in France are taking part in the first International Space Summit, organized by France in Paris. The event brings together key players from the space sector around a common goal: strengthening international cooperation in support of the peaceful, equitable and sustainable use of outer space.

The Principality of Monaco is represented by H.E. Ms. Valérie Bruell-Melchior, Ambassador of Monaco to France, representing H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, accompanied by members of the Embassy of Monaco in France and the Department of External Relations and Cooperation.

More than 90 countries gather in Paris

Held at the Grand Palais, the International Space Summit brings together delegations from more than 90 countries to promote greater convergence on the major challenges surrounding the exploration and use of outer space.

The meeting takes place against a backdrop of major geopolitical changes. In this new environment, closer cooperation among political, scientific and industrial stakeholders in the space sector who share common objectives is becoming increasingly important.

Discussions focus in particular on space exploration science and technologies, the security and governance of space activities, and the economic development of the sector.

Space technology, a strategic part of everyday life

Space technologies now play an essential role in many aspects of everyday life. They are critical to weather forecasting, climate change monitoring, geolocation and telecommunications.

However, the rapid development of the sector and the growing number of players involved are creating a need for increasingly coordinated international action.

Several challenges must be addressed, including technological dependencies, the emergence of new technologies requiring appropriate regulatory frameworks, and the increasing congestion of Earth’s orbits.

These issues raise important questions regarding security, governance and the sustainability of space activities, at a time when the number of actors and applications in space continues to grow.

Monaco committed to the peaceful and sustainable use of space

Against this backdrop, Monaco is reaffirming its commitment to the peaceful, equitable and sustainable use of outer space, in accordance with the international legal framework.

The Principality is also working to establish a legal environment suited to the rapid evolution of the space sector. Work undertaken by the Space Affairs Office of the Government of Monaco will help the authorities and Monaco-based stakeholders develop their activities within a secure, clear and appropriate framework that reflects the dynamism of the space industry.

This approach reflects Monaco’s desire to play an active role in international discussions on the future of space and on the need to ensure the responsible use of space resources and infrastructure.

Venturi Space presents ALTA LUNA to the international community

Monaco’s participation in the summit also provides an opportunity to highlight the technological expertise being developed within the Principality.

During the event, the Monaco-based company Venturi Space is presenting its spacecraft to the international community. Among the projects being showcased is ALTA LUNA, a single-seat vehicle designed to operate around future lunar bases.

The presentation highlights the ability of Monaco-based companies to participate in the emerging dynamics of space exploration and contribute to technologies that could support the next stages of human activity around the Moon.
