From August 7 to 13, picturesque mountain villages and French Riviera destinations will host an extensive program of patron saint festivals, religious ceremonies, concerts, live entertainment, tournaments and food events that transform streets and squares into vibrant gathering places.

Patron Saint Festivals Take Center Stage

In Saint-Paul-de-Vence, celebrations in honor of Saint Clare continue through August 9. The program features religious processions, traditional folk dancing and games for children, keeping local customs alive.

During the same period, Peymeinade celebrates Saint Roch with three days of festivities including evening markets, amusement rides, live music and the charity event “One Kilometer for Manon,” organized to support a young local resident with disabilities. Sunday’s schedule highlights Provençal traditions with a solemn procession, Mass, a performance by the Académie Provençale of Mandelieu and the traditional aioli lunch.

The villages of Ilonse, Berghe (Fontan), La Croix-sur-Roudoule and Berre-les-Alpes also honor their patron saints with religious ceremonies, aubades, communal aperitifs, pétanque tournaments, village picnics and evening dances.

In Peille, the Feast of the Assumption opens with bingo, live music, a solemn procession and the traditional civic aperitif. Nearby La Penne honors Saint Roch with aubades, religious services and evening dances.

The village of Bouyon also celebrates Saint Roch over four days with concerts, tournaments, the traditional pistou soup dinner, children’s entertainment and sporting competitions.

One of the region’s most significant events is the Festin of Saint-Martin-Vésubie, featuring religious processions, community barbecues, traditional games, fireworks and the torchlit pilgrimage to the Madone de Fenestre, held this year as part of the bicentenary celebrations of the Virgin’s coronation.

Finally, Utelle opens its six-day Festin of Saint Roch with parades accompanied by fifes and drums, pétanque tournaments, evening dances and the spectacular Leap of the Cepoun, one of the valley’s most iconic traditional ceremonies.
