Grasse Celebrates the 80th Jasmine Festival: Three Days of Floral Parades, Traditions and Fragrant Celebrations on the French Riviera

The French city of Grasse, internationally renowned as the world’s perfume capital, is preparing to host one of the most enchanting summer events on the French Riviera. From July 31 to August 2, 2026, the city will celebrate the 80th edition of the Fête du Jasmin (Jasmine Festival), a vibrant tribute to the flower that has shaped its history, culture and perfume-making heritage.

For three days, Grasse’s historic center will become an open-air stage where the delicate fragrance of jasmine fills the streets, accompanied by floral parades, live performances, music, artistic installations and traditional Provençal celebrations that attract thousands of visitors from France and around the world.

A Festival Born After World War II

The Jasmine Festival was first held in 1946 as a tribute to the local jasmine growers who helped revive Grasse’s economy in the aftermath of World War II. Their harvest supplied the finest flowers used in luxury perfumery, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a global center of fragrance production.

Eighty years later, the festival remains one of the highlights of the French summer calendar, celebrating the enduring connection between Grasse, jasmine cultivation and the exceptional craftsmanship that has made the city famous worldwide.

The 2026 Jasmine Festival Program

The festivities begin on Friday, July 31, at Cours Honoré-Cresp, where live music and entertainment will start at 7:00 p.m. Following the official opening ceremony, the evening will continue with a spectacular fireworks display launched from the Jardin des Plantes, before giving way to a dance party featuring some of the greatest hits of the 1980s.

The festival reaches its peak on Saturday, August 1, when the streets of Grasse come alive with street performers, percussion groups, capoeira artists, musicians and colorful entertainment throughout the city.

At 9:00 p.m., the famous Corso Fiorito (Flower Parade) takes center stage. Decorated floats covered with floral arrangements, artistic performances and elaborately costumed groups parade through the historic streets, creating one of the festival’s most anticipated spectacles.

Among the highlights of the 2026 edition are the return of the historic Grasse Fire Brigade float and its legendary Jeep, alongside brand-new floral installations, artistic displays and immersive decorations designed especially for this anniversary celebration.

The Jasminade: The Festival’s Signature Tradition

One of the most unforgettable moments of the Jasmine Festival is the legendary Jasminade, an event that transforms the city into a truly immersive floral experience.

During this beloved tradition, thousands of fresh jasmine blossoms are showered over the crowds while jasmine-scented water is sprayed through the streets, filling the air with the flower’s unmistakable fragrance and creating a joyful celebration shared by residents and visitors alike.

Sunday Celebrates Provençal Heritage

The closing day, Sunday, August 2, focuses on the authentic traditions of Provence.

Visitors can attend the traditional Mass celebrated in the Provençal language at the Princess Pauline Gardens, watch the entertaining World Championship of Square Boules, now in its 14th edition, and join the large community picnic held at the Jardin des Plantes, where locals and tourists gather to celebrate together.

The relationship between Grasse and jasmine extends far beyond the annual festival. For centuries, jasmine cultivation has been at the heart of the city’s prestigious perfume industry, supplying precious raw materials for some of the world’s most renowned fragrances.
