Valberg is preparing to become once again the leading destination for astronomy enthusiasts in southern France. From 17 to 19 July 2026, the AstroValberg Festival returns for its seventh edition, offering a rich program of free events dedicated to exploring the universe through astronomy, science, entertainment and environmental awareness.
For three days, the mountain resort in the French Alpes-Maritimes will welcome families, visitors, experts and astronomy lovers for a journey among stars, planets and the mysteries of space, combining scientific discovery with the natural beauty of the region.
The main highlight of this edition is the opening of the DOME – Maison départementale de l’Environnement et de l’Observation, a new facility set to become the permanent hub for scientific and environmental activities in Valberg.
The centre features a 12-metre immersive planetarium equipped with 360-degree projection technology, offering visitors an unforgettable journey through the universe. The DOME also includes a branch of the Departmental Media Library, the Mercantour National Park House, an educational garden and spaces dedicated to science communication and environmental awareness.
The facility will remain open throughout the year, with activities designed for schools, families and visitors interested in astronomy, nature and environmental protection.
