In preparation for the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026, the Principality of Monaco will implement an extensive traffic management plan to ensure the safe running of one of the most iconic races in the world.

From June 4 to June 7, 2026, numerous streets within the city centre and the street circuit will be closed or subject to strict circulation and parking restrictions throughout the duration of the event.

Major road closures across Monaco’s city circuit

To accommodate the Formula 1 Grand Prix, several key roads will be fully closed to traffic, including:

  • Boulevard Albert Ier
  • Quai Albert Ier
  • Quai Antoine Ier
  • Avenue des Spélugues
  • Place du Casino
  • Avenue Princesse Grace
  • Avenue de Monte-Carlo
  • Boulevard Louis II
  • Avenue J.-F. Kennedy
  • and multiple additional streets within the circuit area
  • adv-692

Strategic tunnels and access routes, including the Rocher Albert Ier tunnel and Rocher Noghès tunnel, will also be closed, along with port zones and surrounding areas.

Traffic circulation changes and one-way system adjustments

Temporary changes to traffic flow will be introduced across multiple districts of Monaco.

Key modifications include:

  • Reversed traffic directions in streets such as Rue Princesse Florestine, Rue Suffren Reymond, and Rue Saige
  • Two-way circulation introduced in Rue Grimaldi and Rue Notari
  • Additional restrictions around Avenue du Port and Place d’Armes

These adjustments will remain active primarily during the race weekend, with some measures starting earlier on June 3.

Parking restrictions across the Principality

Significant parking restrictions will be in place across Monaco:

  • From May 31 to June 8: restrictions on Avenue du Port and Quai Jean-Charles Rey
  • From June 3 to June 7: extended bans across Boulevard Albert Ier, Place du Casino, Avenue des Spélugues, and many central streets
  • Additional restrictions in residential and strategic areas up to June 12 and June 14
  • adv-734

These measures ensure the smooth operation of the temporary street circuit and public safety.

Pedestrian access and circuit restrictions

From June 4 to June 7, pedestrian access will be prohibited in several key areas of the circuit, including Boulevard Albert Ier, Place du Casino, and Avenue Princesse Grace.

However, spectators with valid tickets or official passes will be allowed access to designated areas of the circuit. Residents and workers will retain access upon presentation of valid identification.

Free public transport and reinforced bus network

The Principality will again offer free public transport during major events. The Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco network will be free of charge from June 1 to June 8, 2026.

Bus routes will also be modified and reinforced to accommodate increased demand during the Grand Prix weekend.

Infrastructure adjustments and EV charging stations

From June 3 to June 7, several Monaco ON electric vehicle charging stations located within the circuit area will be temporarily deactivated, with additional stations remaining offline until June 9.

These measures are part of the broader logistics and safety plan for the event.

Monaco and Formula 1: a world-class street circuit event

The Formula 1 World Championship in Monaco remains one of the most prestigious events in motorsport, transforming the Principality into a unique urban racing circuit each year.

The 2026 traffic plan highlights the complexity of hosting such a global event while ensuring safety, mobility, and operational efficiency throughout the race weekend.
