For more than seventy years, the Rose Ball has been one of the most prestigious events in the social life of the Principality of Monaco, combining international glamour, artistic creativity and charitable commitment.
The event was created in 1954 at the request of Princess Grace and has gradually become a symbol of refinement and solidarity. From the very beginning, the gala has supported the Princess Grace Foundation, which is involved in numerous humanitarian and cultural projects. Over the decades, the event has continuously reinvented itself, preserving its traditions while embracing new artistic and scenographic expressions.
Among the figures who have shaped its history are major names in fashion and creativity. For many years, Karl Lagerfeld designed some of the most memorable editions, transforming the Salle des Étoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo into spectacular settings that blended contemporary glamour with historical inspiration.
Following his passing, the Princess of Hanover entrusted the creative direction to Christian Louboutin, who brought his visionary and bold aesthetic to the Rose Ball. His scenographies have explored many worlds: from Bollywood-inspired atmospheres to 1980s New York, and more recently to dreamlike floral universes.
On March 21, 2026, the Sporting Monte-Carlo will host the 70th edition of the Rose Ball, held under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II and the Presidency of the Princess of Hanover. The theme chosen for this anniversary is “Galaxy Rose Ball”, an invitation to a space journey imagined by Christian Louboutin together with artistic director Benoît Miniou.
For the occasion, the Salle des Étoiles will be transformed into a monochrome spaceship, with large illuminated portholes changing colors as if traveling through planets and galaxies. Lights, sounds and laser effects will create a fully immersive experience, transporting guests into a spectacular futuristic universe.
The evening will feature a rich international artistic program. The ball will open with Rondò Veneziano, renowned for its fusion of baroque elegance and contemporary music. This will be followed by a performance from the legendary Parisian cabaret Crazy Horse, famous for its sensual choreography and kaleidoscopic lighting.
The Ballet Kalinka will bring the energy of Russian traditional dance, while the Berlin-based company Dulce Compania will surprise guests with stilt performances, glamorous costumes and fairy-tale atmospheres. The choreographic duo Céline and Cain Kitsaïs will add further spectacle through performances blending dance and stage effects.
The musical highlight will feature Leee John and the group Imagination, icons of 1980s British soul, jazz and funk, while DJ Josh Quinton will close the night by turning the dance floor into a cosmic celebration lasting until late night.
Beyond the glamour, the Rose Ball remains above all a charitable event supporting the Princess Grace Foundation. With a ticket priced at €1,800, guests directly contribute to the foundation’s philanthropic initiatives, making the evening a moment of solidarity as well as celebration.
Blending elegance, creativity and social commitment, the Rose Ball continues to write its remarkable story. And its 70th edition promises to become an unforgettable journey among the stars, once again opening the season of the major events of the Principality of Monaco.
