The La Malmaison art center in Cannes hosts until January 6, 2026 the exhibition «Poussière d’étoiles» by the celebrated French sculptor Jean-Michel Othoniel, offering a unique sensory journey where glass and light merge to create an immersive universe.

Among the 91 works on display, 53 were created specifically for La Malmaison, inspired by the history of the oldest residence on the Croisette, the reflections of the Cannes Film Festival, and the blue hues of the Mediterranean sea and sky.

Some rooms glow in gold and blush pink, with sculptures such as Gold Rose and Gold Lotus, accompanied by a sparkling “pink river” that interacts with suspended Passiflora, symbolizing passion and sunlight. The vibrant colors evoke the bright light of the Côte d’Azur, summer beaches, and winter mimosa.

Other spaces merge with the surrounding panorama: expanses of blue water, suggested by reflective glass bricks, stretch through the rooms and shift according to the light, creating an almost magical effect.

Born in Saint-Étienne in 1964, Othoniel is a leading figure in contemporary French art, renowned for his mastery of blown glass and for large-scale installations combining sculpture, architecture, and design. His artistic research integrates materials such as glass, metal, and ceramics to create visually striking works inspired by ancient and modern cultures, nature, poetry, and myths, playing uniquely with light, transparency, and color.

With «Poussière d’étoiles», La Malmaison becomes a dreamlike and luminous universe, where each room tells a visual fairy tale blending history, art, and the magic of the Mediterranean.
