An umbrella for shade, a paddleboard to glide over the waves, or a deckchair for seaside relaxation: this summer, all of this can be rented from private individuals thanks to Beachnjoy, the new digital platform launched in Juan-les-Pins and already nicknamed the “Airbnb of beaches.”

Created by engineer Selim Benzekri, the app allows residents and tourists to quickly rent beach equipment – from coolers to kayaks, including sun loungers, beach rackets and even work accessories – by arranging the pick-up directly with the owner.

The service is being tested until the end of the summer in Nice, Antibes-Juan-les-Pins and Cannes. The initiative not only makes beach life easier, but also promotes a more sustainable tourism model: fewer purchases of bulky items used only occasionally, and more sharing.

Locals are also embracing the app, seeing it as a convenient way to avoid carrying heavy bags on public transport and as an opportunity to earn extra income by renting out their own equipment.

Prices are accessible: €20 for a paddleboard, €10 for a deckchair, €5 for beach rackets. Savings for renters, small earnings for providers.

If the pilot proves successful, Beachnjoy could soon complement traditional rental companies and seaside boutiques, opening the door to possible collaborations. A first assessment will be made at the end of the season, but the ambition is already clear: to expand beyond the French Riviera and reach international beaches.
