The prestigious Mondial du Théâtre returns to Monaco for its 18th edition, scheduled from August 20 to 27, 2025. The official announcement was made today at the Auditorium Rainier III, confirming the importance of this cultural event in the international theatre scene.
Founded in 1957 and held every four years by the Studio de Monaco, the Mondial du Théâtre is more than a festival: it is a global artistic crossroads where amateur theatre becomes a tool for intercultural dialogue and creative exchange. Supported by the Prince’s Government, the event brings together theatre companies from five continents, each presenting a unique artistic vision rooted in its culture, history, and sensitivity.
For this 2025 edition, 18 countries will take part, offering the audience an exceptional glimpse into the diversity of theatrical expression worldwide. Each company will perform on two consecutive evenings at either the Théâtre des Variétés or the Théâtre Princesse Grace. Evening performances begin at 6:00 p.m., featuring three plays in succession with 30-minute intermissions to allow for set changes. Admission is free and open to all, subject to seating availability.
The event will also feature workshops led by international theatre professionals, open to both participants and the public, encouraging the exchange of techniques and theatrical insight. In addition, daily forums will be held the morning after each premiere, offering structured conversations between actors, directors, critics, and spectators about the performances.
Through this event, the Principality of Monaco once again affirms its commitment to culture and the international promotion of amateur theatre as a platform for dialogue, learning, and cultural openness.
