Nice between the end of winter and the first signs of spring: a weekend of art, performances and major events
As winter slowly gives way to spring, Nice continues to express all of its cultural energy. The elegant capital of the French Riviera maintains a lively rhythm even during the quieter months of the year, offering a rich program of performances, concerts, cinema, cultural meetings and art exhibitions. Walking through the Old Town, along the Promenade des Anglais or through the city’s creative districts, it is easy to move from a theatre to a gallery, from a concert to a film screening, immersing yourself in a dynamic and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The weekend of March 14 and 15, 2026 promises to be particularly rich in events, with activities spread throughout the city and appealing to a wide range of audiences, from theatre lovers to fans of music and contemporary culture.
The program begins Saturday, March 14, 2026, with a day full of events in theatres, concert halls and cultural venues. At the Théâtre de la Cité, comedian Urbain presents two shows, “Urbain – En rodage” and “Urbain – Connard bienveillant.” Meanwhile, the Théâtre l’Alphabet stages a new performance of “L’Avare” by Molière.
Also on Saturday, the Théâtre du Bocal hosts “Lecture dans un fauteuil – Jules Renard,” a literary event combining reading and theatre. The evening continues with the concert of Aupinard at the Théâtre Lino Ventura, while comedian Jarry brings his show “Bonhomme” to the Palais Nikaïa, one of the most anticipated comedy performances of the season.
Music lovers can also attend the atmospheric “Candlelight: The Lord of the Rings” concert at the Westminster Hotel on the Promenade des Anglais, where the famous film scores are performed in an intimate setting illuminated by candles. The city also offers numerous nightlife and music events that evening, including the Latino Party (Gold Edition) at the Club House, No Diggity at the Allianz Riviera, PONTE LOCA x FRIGO 16, and a darkwave concert with This Eternal Decay at Altherax Music. Tango enthusiasts can join Milonga La Traditionnelle at L’énergie du Souffle.
Cinema also plays a role in the weekend program, with Food Fiction – Le Ciné Culte at Le Béthel and the 40th edition of the Italian Film Days at Espace Magnan, a festival dedicated to contemporary Italian cinema.
Earlier in the day, visitors can also attend a historical conference at the Musée de Préhistoire Terra Amata, titled “The Amphitheatre of the Ancient Agglomeration of Cemenelum: From Its Origins to the Present Day,” exploring the history of the Roman site of Cimiez.
The weekend continues Sunday, March 15, 2026, with new performances and concerts. At the Théâtre l’Alphabet, audiences can watch the comedies “Les Fourberies de Scapin” and “Les Amazones,” while the Théâtre du Bocal presents “L’Étrangleuse.” Classical music takes center stage at Église Saint-Paul, where the concert “Organs and Cello” combines the powerful sound of the organ with the deep tones of the cello.
Several events extend beyond the weekend. The show “Embody” at the Théâtre de l’Eau Vive runs until March 15, while the Théâtre National de Nice presents “Je suis trop vert” until March 14. The Théâtre de la Libé continues staging “Nuit d’ivresse” until March 29.
Meanwhile, major events are taking place across the city during this period. The famous Paris–Nice cycling race passes through the city until March 15, and the Foire de Nice, a large trade and cultural fair, runs at the Palais des Expositions until March 16.
Beyond the weekend events, Nice offers a rich cultural heritage with numerous exhibitions that can be visited throughout the season. Among the most interesting are “Nissa Briqua,” presented at Tour Bellanda and the Crypte, and “Mondes parallèles” at the Musée International d’Art Naïf Anatole Jakovsky, both open until spring.
Art lovers can also discover “Maurice Denis, années 1920. L’éclat du Midi” at the Musée des Beaux-Arts and “La Collection” at the Musée Matisse, while the Musée de la Photographie Charles Nègre hosts the exhibition “Signature Gestuelle – Dominique Jaussein,” open until June 14, 2026.
At Palais Lascaris, visitors can explore the exhibitions “Lou zounzoun de la Vespa” and “Merveilles et curiosités du Palais Lascaris,” while the Bibliothèque Romain Gary presents “From the Pen to the Sapphire: Five Centuries of Musical Memory.”
During this period, the cultural program “Mars aux Musées” also continues until March 29, offering special visits, meetings and activities in many of the city’s museums.
Experiencing Nice at this time of year means discovering a city that never truly slows down. Between performances, concerts, exhibitions and large events, cultural life flows naturally from one place to another.
