At the initiative of the Fondation de Monaco, the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris celebrates the International Day of Sport

On the occasion of the centenary of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CIUP), Mrs. Martine GARCIA-MASCARENHAS, Director of the Fondation de Monaco, and Mr. Bertrand REBOURS, Director of the CIUP Sports Department, highlighted the shared values of sport for peace during a special event in the official program.

The documentary “The Flame of Peace”, produced by Monaco Info, was screened in the Honnoart lounge of the Maison Internationale, which welcomed 150 attendees (residents, house and service directors of the Cité, staff members, and sports figures) to celebrate this day with the support of Peace and Sport. Five “Champions for Peace,” all high-level athletes – Marlène NIDECKER, Diana GANDEGA, Laurence FISCHER, Zakia KHUDADADI, and Pascal GENTIL – were also present and delivered a powerful message about the strength of their commitment.

The founding values of the Cité resonated with those of sport, in action both on the campus grounds and in the missions carried out by Peace and Sport around the world. To symbolize these values, Peace and Sport awarded a new distinction recognizing the commitment to sport for peace to a brilliant student, Vice-President of the Cité Residents’ Bureau, Alix MEROLLE, who will leave the Cité after four rich years of experiences and encounters.

Finally, the participation of the entire audience in Peace and Sport’s #WhiteCard campaign, alongside Mr. Jean-Marc SAUVE, President of the Cité internationale, Mr. Manuel DURÁN GIMÉNEZ-RICO, Consul General of Spain, and Mrs. Marian ROMERO, Co-President of the Paris Université Club, was a highlight of the day.
