It couldn’t be missing again this year from the programme of the Dante Alighieri Association – Committee of the Principality of Monaco: the screening of a film of great depth. L’Età giusta (2023) is the title of the film by Alessio Di Cosimo, which will be shown on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Théâtre des Variétés.
The evening, held under the High Patronage of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover and the Patronage of the Italian Embassy in the Principality, will open with a video message from director Alessio Di Cosimo, introduced by the association’s president, Maria Betti. After the screening, Maurizio Di Maggio will have a conversation with actress Iole Mazzone.
The film’s exceptional cast includes Valeria Fabrizi, Paola Pitagora, Gigliola Cinquetti, Giuliana Lojodice, Giuseppe Pambieri, Alessandro Bertoncini, and Iole Mazzone.
The latter — winner of the “Anna Magnani” and “Giuliano Gemma” awards as breakthrough actress — after debuting alongside Sandra Milo in the short film Eclissi, has acted with other major names such as Gianmarco Tognazzi, Vanessa Incontrada, Francesco Pannofino, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Benedetta Porcaroli. She also participated, as both actress and screenwriting collaborator, in the docufilm Come un padre, dedicated to the life of her grandfather, football coach Carlo Mazzone, who passed away in 2023.
Throughout the comedy, the actors take the audience on a fun and metaphorical journey that symbolizes the rediscovery of oneself and the idea that having projects and dreams is still possible, despite the passage of time and the limits and challenges of aging.
The film manages to make viewers laugh and reflect, stirring both sweetness and bitterness. It also tells, through the “adventure” of four over-eighty residents of a retirement home, of the magical bond between grandparents and grandchildren.
