“Mediterranean 2050”: New Exhibition in Monaco

From March 29, the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco will host Mediterranean 2050, an interactive exhibition that takes visitors on a journey through time and space to explore the past, present, and future of the Mediterranean.

Once the cradle of civilizations and a crossroads of cultures, today the Mediterranean faces an unprecedented environmental crisis. This exhibition invites reflection on its glorious history, current fragility, and the actions needed to restore it through conscious and sustainable choices.

A Commitment to Marine Conservation

Spanning 1,000 square meters, Mediterranean 2050 raises awareness of the vulnerability of Monaco’s marine ecosystem, which is home to 7.5% of the world’s marine species and 18% of its plant species. Through an immersive and interactive experience, visitors will learn about the importance of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and the strategies needed to achieve the ambitious 30×30 program, which aims to protect 30% of the oceans by 2030.

A Dive into the Mediterranean of the Future

Aboard the futuristic Pegasos submarine, visitors will be transported into the Mediterranean of 2050, where marine biodiversity has been restored. Thanks to cutting-edge technology and an immersive 310-square-meter projection, they will virtually swim alongside sea turtles, sharks, whales, and other iconic marine species.

Beyond the Exhibition: A Concrete Commitment

The experience does not end at the Museum: thanks to My OCEANO Med, an interactive app, visitors can continue their environmental journey by taking on challenges to implement effective marine conservation strategies.
