Caterina Caselli: a renowned singer, music producer capable of bringing Italian music to the world, a determined and unconventional woman, will honor us with her presence in the Principality of Monaco on the occasion of the screening of the docufilm “Caterina Caselli – A Life, A Hundred Lives,” organized by the Dante Alighieri Association of the Principality of Monaco.
The event, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Princess of Hanover and with the Patronage of the Embassy of Italy in the Principality, will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Théâtre Princesse Grace in Monaco.

Produced by Sugar Play (2021) in collaboration with Rai Cinema, “Caterina Caselli – A Life, A Hundred Lives” is directed by Renato De Maria, who co-wrote the script with Pasquale Plastino, while the cinematography is by Filippo Corticelli and the editing by Clelio Benevento.

The film will offer a glimpse, through Caselli’s own narration, of the existential and professional journey of this “lady” of Italian music—recently awarded the honor of Cavaliere del Lavoro by President Sergio Mattarella—who has transcended generations and whose fame is still linked today to songs such as ‘Nessuno mi può giudicare,’ ‘Perdono,’ ‘Insieme a te non ci sto più,’ and many more.
Members and friends of Dante Monaco will have the opportunity to watch—alongside the singer, whose blonde bob even became viral in the ’60s—a documentary that “alternates intimate anecdotes with public testimonies, revealing the portrait of a woman who has lived through time and often anticipated it: from revolutionary artist in the ’60s to entrepreneur and record producer.” Andrea Bocelli, Elisa, Negramaro, Ennio Morricone, are just some of the names mentioned in the documentary, along with extraordinary contributions from Francesco Guccini, Paolo Conte, Liliana Caselli, Mauro Malavasi, Giorgio Moroder, Stefano Senardi, and Filippo Sugar.

When I first met Caterina Caselli, I immediately understood that what interested me was capturing her vital energy,” says director Renato De Maria. “I decided to put the camera on her and let her oral, sincere, emotional, and vital narrative break through the barrier of our attention to reach us with as much truth as possible. Around her, thanks to a deep dive into archival materials, there are changing landscapes, ever-evolving scenarios. Italy transforming and growing.

The event will also allow us to immerse ourselves in the world of culture and customs of our country, from the years when Caselli was a “Piper girl,” at the iconic Roman club that saw the rise of great music stars, up to today, showing us a character who, driven by musical passion, has become a living legend.

Before the screening, journalist Daniele Doglio, known for his role in founding the weekly program Mixer by Giovanni Minoli, will have a dialogue with the artist on stage at the Théâtre Princesse Grace.
