From Saturday, November 16 to Sunday, November 24, 2024, the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) will take place in the Principality and across Europe, with the theme “Food Waste” under the slogan “Waste is out of taste.”
The aim of the EWWR is to encourage eco-responsibility by promoting more sustainable consumption and minimizing waste production as much as possible. For this new edition, the Department of the Environment, in partnership with the Department of Urban Planning, Monaco City Hall, and the Monaco Sanitation Company, will organize an EWWR village on Wednesday, November 20, and Thursday, November 21, from 9 am to 6 pm on the Promenade Honoré II and in the Casa d’I Soci.
Open to all, the village will feature around fifteen stands set up specifically for this event, offering numerous activities related to waste reduction, food waste, the circular economy, repair, recycling, and environmental awareness.
In parallel with this event, due to the excellent community involvement in previous EWWR editions, the Department of the Environment will again organize an underwear and eyeglasses collection. Donations can be deposited, as in previous years, in bins located outside the Fontvieille Shopping Center.
Finally, a unique third collection will be launched this year among all hairdressers in the Principality. During EWWR, they will be encouraged to collect all the hair they cut so it can be sent to the Just Hairdressers Association (which initiated this collection in France) to repurpose this incredible and renewable natural resource as a pollutant solution.
The complete EWWR 2024 program is available on the “Your Monaco” mobile app and in the press kit posted on the Princely Government’s website.
