What are the challenges and possible developments of artificial intelligence? This very debated and important topic will be the focus of the first conference of the 2024/2025 season of the Dante Alighieri Association Monaco Committee.
Speaking to the members and friends of the Association, chaired by Maria Betti, will be Father Paolo Benanti, an expert in ethics, bioethics, and ethics of technology; president of the AI Commission for Information; advisor to Pope Francis on issues of artificial intelligence, ethics, and technology; professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University and Seattle University, and the only Italian, since October 2023, to be part of the advisory group on Artificial Intelligence of the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.
The event, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. the Princess of Hanover and sponsored by the Italian Embassy, will take place on Friday, October 11, at the Auditorium Rainier III (Boulevard Louis II) “Room C” at 6:30 PM.

Free entry for members, €15 admission fee for non-members.

Father Benanti, a Franciscan theologian and philosopher born in Rome in 1973, is also the author of numerous works, including “Human in the Loop. Human Decisions and Artificial Intelligence,” Mondadori Università, Milan, 2022. The Franciscan theologian will present the perspectives and questions related to artificial intelligence, asking: “What is the difference between a human being that exists and a machine that functions? This may be the greatest problem of our time because we are witnessing a challenge that becomes deeper every day as a machine becomes humanized” (Paolo Benanti & Sebastiano Maffettone in “We and the Machine: An Ethics for the Digital Age” – LUISS, University Press 2024).
