“Aquela Mar – Cette Mer” – Maurice Maubert

Maurice Maubert is from Nice. He’s a son of Old Nice, near the Palais Lascaris. The Mediterranean holds a special place in his artistic approach.

In this exhibition, the artist invites us to reconnect with our common heritage, the sea. “Aquela Mar,” the title of the exhibition, means “This Sea” in Nice.

This exhibition is divided into three parts for an in-depth artistic exploration.

Exhibition Jean Mas en Ombre et au Cube

From 09/03/2024 to 01/04/2025, every day.

L’Artistique returns with the presentation of the Ferrero Donation Collection and invites Jean Mas for a temporary exhibition.

In 1986, Jean Ferrero proposed an exhibition to Jean Mas entitled “Cubism of the School of Nice”, for “cubing” various artists from the School of Nice. The following year, Jean Mas created 19 wooden cubes of 20x20x20 cm. The exhibition took place, along with a limited edition booklet of one hundred copies published by “Z’éditions”. Jean Ferrero kept all these pieces as part of his donation to the City of Nice in 2014.

Exhibition – Jànluc Sauvaigo – Les 36 Vues du Mont Chauve

From 05/16 to 11/30/2024, every day.

Between 2004 and 2010, Jànluc Sauvaigo illustrated a series of sketches of the “Popular Nissan History”, set on Mont Chauve, giving rise to the 36 views of Mont Chauve.

The first map is initially inspired by Japanese painter Hiroshige; for the others, Jànluc Sauvaigo evokes Hokusai and his famous Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. The author says, “I wanted to celebrate a magical place in my own way. And in Nice, Mont Chauve was obvious. It’s visible from the Paillon and Var basins, almost everywhere.”
