Monaco has a limited number of on-street parking spaces, with only 1,000 spots available, mainly for aesthetic reasons. These parking spaces are free for electric vehicles and on Sundays (on-street only), while the regular rate is €2.40 per hour, payable directly at parking meters or via the PayByPhone and Monapass apps. It’s important to note that, in most areas, the maximum parking time is two hours, so paid parking is the most practical option.

40 Parking Spaces Available

In the Principality, there are about 40 public parking lots and nearly 20,000 parking spaces spread across the area. An interactive map allows you to check real-time availability, indicating the nearest parking depending on location and parking duration. For tourists heading to the Prince’s Palace or the Oceanographic Museum, Parking des Pêcheurs is a convenient choice.

Parking rates are consistent throughout the city, except for six specific parking areas. If you park for less than an hour, parking is free. For longer periods, rates start at €2.80 for 1 hour and 15 minutes and go up to €7.30 for 2 hours. After two hours, the rates decrease, with €11.60 for 3 hours and €14.50 for 4 hours. Overnight, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM, the rate drops to €0.70 every 15 minutes. The cost for 24-hour parking is €24. In case of a lost ticket, the daily charge is €25.

It is important to highlight that free parking is not available on weekends, and rates are the same as weekdays.

Monthly Subscription

For those who prefer convenience, it’s possible to purchase a monthly subscription for a spot in one of the public parking areas, though priority is given to Monegasque residents and workers in the Principality. Monthly subscription rates increased in 2024: residents pay €115 per month, while employees pay €105 for 300 hours of parking.

Park-and-ride parking lots, which encourage parking at the city entrance to reduce traffic, are the most economical option. The only park-and-ride facility near Monaco is Zac Saint-Antoine in Cap d’Ail, where the cost is €4 for two hours, compared to €7 for a traditional parking lot.

New Parking

Parking des Salines, opened in 2024, is a new parking facility offering numerous services, including electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle areas, and shuttles connecting the Monte-Carlo and Condamine districts. The parking has a single rate: €7.50 for half a day and €11 for a full day, with 15 minutes of free parking. Additionally, a monthly subscription for €51 is available, which also includes public transport benefits.

In summary, Monaco offers various parking options, both long-term and short-term, ranging from traditional rates to more affordable options for commuters and visitors.
