On May 30, 2024, H.E. Mr. Gabriel Revel, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the Council of Europe, and Mr. Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, renewed the voluntary contributions agreement between Monaco and the Organization.

Through this agreement, Monaco reaffirms its support for the Council of Europe by committing to support the activities of this Institution.

The programs supported by the Princely Government are in line with the Principality’s international priority commitments. They particularly concern four areas of activity in which the Council of Europe has demonstrated recognized expertise:

  • The fight against violence against women, domestic violence, and violence against children in Morocco and Tunisia (Council of Europe Neighbourhood Partnership);
  • The Council of Europe’s Action Plan on protecting vulnerable persons in the context of migration and asylum in Europe;
  • Strengthening the efficiency of the European Court of Human Rights by reducing the backlog of well-founded cases;
  • The Fund for the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention).
