The Dante Alighieri Association – Monaco Committee, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. the Princess of Hanover and with the Patronage of the Embassy of Italy in the Principality, presents on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 7:30 pm at the Théâtre des Variétés, the film ‘The Right to Happiness.’

Starring: Remo Girone, who will be present at the event, Moni Ovadia, Corrado Fortuna, Didie Lorenz Tchumbu, Pino Calabrese. Subtitled in French and winner of 44 international awards, including the Troisi Award for direction, ‘The Right to Happiness‘ is a 2021 film written and directed by Claudio Rossi Massimi. Remo Girone, a highly acclaimed theater, television, and film actor, plays the role of Libero, a seller of used books. Essien, portrayed by Didie Lorenz Tchumbu, is an immigrant boy living in Italy.

Between the two, a friendship blossoms through the books that the not-so-young bookstore owner recommends and lends to Essien, a regular visitor to the shop around which the life of the town revolves. ‘The story of a friendship between different generations, nationalities, and life experiences that underscores the importance of the book as a means of unity and communication in diversity.

Reading, therefore, is the key to happiness, dreams, and freedom. The film is dedicated to UNICEF, with the participation of Federfarma and the unconditional support of Sanofi. Released in theaters on April 30, 2021, it was broadcast on Rai Gulp on November 20, 2021, on the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
