On December 11, 2024, H.E. Mrs. Anne-Marie BOISBOUVIER, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, hosted a reception at her residence to close the year of celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of Monaco’s membership in UNESCO and to present the recently published book on this occasion.
The book, the result of collective work between Monaco and UNESCO, was unveiled to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince at the end of November and is published by La Martinière editions. H.E. Mrs. the Ambassador took the opportunity to warmly thank the UNESCO Archives Service for its valuable contribution to the documentary research, as well as Mr. Cyril BAILLEUL, whose photographs enrich the work.
Guests also had the honor of meeting the authors, Mr. Jean-Philippe VINCI, Director of National Education, Youth, and Sports, and Stéphane LAMOTTE, PhD in history, who, under the auspices of H.S.H. Princess of Hanover, President of the Editorial Committee, conceived this book. The volume also includes comic book panels illustrated by artist Damien MAC DONALD to add a pedagogical touch.
An immersive video of the metaverse exhibition “Nouvelles perspectives,” organized by the Monegasque National Committee of the Plastic Arts to commemorate this anniversary, was also projected during the reception. This exhibition is on display at the exhibition room of Quai Antoine Ier, in Monaco, until December 20, 2024.
The event gathered more than 70 guests, including many Ambassadors and representatives of UNESCO services.
On July 6, 1949, Monaco signed the Convention of Accession to UNESCO, the UN specialized agency responsible for culture, education, and science. For the 75th anniversary, the Permanent Delegation of Monaco has organized several events around these three themes to highlight the international vocation of the Principality and shed light on the various Monegasque entities working in these areas.
