Operation NaturaScan, combining boat trips and environmental protection
Join us on Sunday, July 7, for Operation NaturaScan, a participatory science-based nautical event. All interested boaters are invited to sea for an observation trip within the designated Natura 2000 area off Cap d’Antibes.
Volunteer sentinels, come and count dolphins, sunfish, sea turtles, jellyfish, and perhaps even sperm whales and whales! A useful excursion linked to collecting floating macro-litter.

Olympic and Paralympic Torches from 1936 to 2022
Starting June 18, the Espace Culturel des Arcades hosts the exhibition “Olympic and Paralympic Torches from 1936 to Today.” A collection of over 130 objects related to Olympic history, courtesy of Greek private collector Stratos Klimou. The ties between Antibes and its twin city Olympia have made this exceptional exhibition possible during the Paris Olympic Games. You can admire 41 Olympic and Paralympic torches, including the 1936 Berlin Games torch, an Olympic altar from the ship used to transport the flame, a priestess’s robe from the flame lighting ceremony in Olympia, champions’ medals, and many other memorabilia, symbols of the Games’ history.

The Garoupe Plateau in Celebration!
Music, tastings, art… Experience a village atmosphere, a bit old-fashioned and so warm on the Garoupe Plateau. La Guinguette de la Garoupe from 6:00 PM: May 8, June 10, July 8 and 22 (as part of the Nights of Garoupe), August 12 and 26 (Night of Garoupe) and June 9. In 2018, the museum presented a large thematic retrospective from which sports were strangely excluded. It would have been a shame to miss out further. The Olympic year, 2024, rectifies this injustice. Here is again this sarcastic, subversive genius, amusing, brilliant. Since sports love to quote records, he remains the humorist cartoonist who has sold the most albums worldwide with his title “Black Humor and Men in White.” A gold medal, then. Coluche would have enjoyed this, undoubtedly throwing out a snappy and invigorating “Sportsman!!”.

Joan Miró. Masterpieces from the Nahmad Collection

The Picasso Museum offers a unique experience: presenting twelve masterful works by Joan Miró from one of the world’s most important private collections, the Nahmad Collection. Miró feels at home here, as a guest in his friend’s house. For the friendship that, from their first meeting in Paris in 1920, bound the two artists for life was also a ferment of their creative passion. The rooms host one or sometimes two works. Contrary to the traditional exhibition that gathers and associates, this is about concentration and reception of the object in its singularity for contemplation and interpretation.

Without All the Ceremony
As a maritime and border city, Antibes has long had to defend itself, and much of its heritage is directly inherited from this context. The Saracen towers, the ancient Grimaldi castle, the Fort Carré, the walls from the Saint-Jaume bastion to the Saint-André bastion, are all markers in our urban planning of a violent reality, fear of assaults, looting, bombings, in a word, war. But what is war? This year’s programming at Fort Carré offers perspectives, reflections on commitment, the duty of memory, and the traumas it generates: thematic visits, workshops, café-museums for discussions, a cinema visit around Roberto Rossellini’s Paisà, and a theatrical walk in collaboration with the Antibes Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art.

“CHATTERIES” (Cat Hugs)
The Postcard Museum presents a temporary exhibition of antique postcards depicting cats. Pets have often been used to illustrate postcards. Among the most frequent are cats. Photographers and illustrators have provided us with numerous images, from large cats sleeping on a comfortable cushion to kittens. We find these illustrations on postcards and wall calendars distributed by postmen. In both cases, these images will remain on display for several months (especially for calendars). We must admit that these naturalistic scenes have a calming, even beneficial power for the viewer. Beyond any religious or political ulterior motive, the presence of animals accompanying our daily lives is reassuring.
