Following the important conference held at the Forte dell’Annunziata on April 11th on “New strategies to address the Vespa velutina emergency,” the Girolamo Rossi Civic Archaeological Museum of Ventimiglia, in collaboration with the Intemelia Section of the International Institute of Ligurian Studies, is organizing a visit to the “Cera d’Ape Nera” social laboratory for the recovery, processing, and enhancement of the wax of the Black Bee of the Ligurian West, a Slow Food Presidium created by the beekeeper of Val Roya, Fabrizio Zagni, with the youths of SPES, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. An educational event is planned in the multimedia room on biodiversity, the world of bees, and the issues faced by apoids and beekeepers.
The excursion to Airole, already documented in a document from 954 mentioning Curlo Targanigra di Eyrole, a vassal of the Count of Ventimiglia, Guido Guerra, also includes a visit to the parish church of Saints Philip and James, expanded in the Baroque era and decorated in the 20th century by the famous painters Carlo and Luigi Morgari, with the annex of the former oratory of St. John the Baptist. The visit to the ancient village will be led by the historian Lorenzo Rossi and will also include a visit to the Museum of Oil and Peasant Civilization.
