Published in 1945, Black Boy is the first novel written by a Black man – Richard Wright – about his living conditions. The author recounts his childhood and adolescence in the segregationist American South of the early 20th century. Confronted with injustice, poverty, and the violence of relationships between Black and White people, he manages to break free from the constraints through his discovery of reading and writing.
The show offers a sensitive “vibration” of this mythical and moving novel, which mixes on stage an actor, a musician, and a comic book illustrator.
