The 25th Chestnut Festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, the 25th Chestnut Festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer promises a day filled with flavors, traditions, and activities for all ages. The event will take place in the city center, between Place de Gaulle and Cours du 11 Novembre, with support from the Haut-Pays towns: Valdeblore, Roure, Isola Village, and St-Etienne de Tinée.

A Day of Unique Experiences

Throughout the day, the program offers a variety of attractions:

• Chestnut Tasting: About a ton of chestnuts will be roasted in Place de Gaulle, with free tastings starting at 12:00.
• Local and Artisan Market: Around Place de Gaulle and Cours du 11 Novembre, a market will feature typical products such as chestnuts, honey, olive oil, cured meats, cheeses, jams, gingerbread, and local crafts.
• Traditional Crafts and Musical Performances: The streets of the center will come alive with performances by Haut-Pays musical groups like “Lo Cepon,” “La Banda dou Pra,” and “Escapado,” as well as demonstrations of traditional crafts.
• Chainsaw Sculpture Demonstrations: The talented Patrice Lesage will captivate onlookers with his live chainsaw sculptures. Demonstrations will be held in Place de Gaulle at 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00 p.m.

Special Events and Family Attractions

• Animal Parade: At 11:00, a charming parade will start from the Tourist Office, leading animals up to Place de Gaulle.
• Children’s Activities: Events include an eco-friendly wooden carousel, the Orgarêve with its dancing clouds, theatrical performances, monster games, petting farms, butter churning, and donkey and pony rides.
• Gastronomic Specialties in Local Restaurants: Restaurants in the city center will prepare a special stew with polenta, offered as the dish of the day at a special price of €15.

Parking and Transportation

To facilitate access, the following parking options are available:

• Hippodrome de la Côte d’Azur Parking: with two thousand free spaces within a short distance from the center.
• Stade P. Sauvaigo Parking: with five hundred free spaces, just over a kilometer from the center.

A free shuttle service will operate between the parking areas and the city center from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with two continuous shuttle rotations.
