Exhibition “Soleil, azure, and elegance – The Séeberger celebrate Cannes”

The Municipal Archives propose an exhibition dedicated to the work of the Séeberger brothers, fashion photographers based in Paris (1909-1977). Accustomed to stays in Cannes, the Séeberger brothers produce commissioned reports for fashion magazines, thus offering a dreamed image of the French Riviera. They witness a transformation in Cannes’ welcoming vocation at the turn of the 1930s. The sought-after seaside resort by European aristocracy since the second half of the 19th century gives way to summer tourism where celebrities and vacationers mingle.

From Monday, October 16, 2023, to Saturday, June 8, 2024, Schedule: Monday to Friday: from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM

Exhibition Julien des Monstiers “Dessus / dessous”

From May 11th to September 22nd, at Suquet des Artistes, the City of Cannes presents “Dessus/Dessous”, an exhibition of 45 works dedicated to Julien Des Monstiers. Between fine arts and applied arts, the latter experiments with the limits of painting while seeking depth, surfaces, textures, folds, and fractures. Whether figurative or abstract, the presented works aim to demonstrate that the subject is not in the image but in the way it is made.

George Nuku Exhibition – Bottled Sea 2124

The exhibition of New Zealand artist George Nuku is organized at the Museum of the Iron Mask and the Royal Fort until November 17th. It will propose works and immersive installations made from recycled materials and inspired in particular by the Lérins Islands.

Visitors will thus discover the culture of Aotearoa, New Zealand, the oceanic collections of Cannes, and the history of the Man in the Iron Mask reinterpreted by the artist.

George Nuku is one of the leading figures in the Maori art scene. During a residency at the Royal Fort, he created works with students from Vallergues high schools that will be part of the exhibition.
