Beyond the Stars We See: with Amalia Ercoli Finzi, the first woman to graduate in Aeronautical Engineering in Italy, and Giulia Carla Bassani, a researcher on human flight to the Moon and Mars.
Last event before the summer break of the Dante Alighieri Association – Monaco Committee promises an exciting scientific journey into the Universe: the conference titled “Beyond the Stars We See.” The event – under the High Patronage of H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover and under the patronage of the Italian Embassy – will take place, with free admission, at the Rainier III Auditorium – Room C (Boulevard Louis II Monaco) on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 6:30 PM.
Two women of extraordinary professional and human value will speak. Amalia Ercoli Finzi, scientist and aerospace engineer, one of the most important personalities in the world in the field of aerospace sciences and technologies, Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, and also Honorary Professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and Giulia Carla Bassani (who will be on video conference), a young aerospace engineer, passionate and expert in human flight to the Moon and Mars, as well as a writer. Among her works are “I Dreamed of the Stars. The meeting will be moderated by Mrs. Maria Betti, President of the Dante Alighieri Association of Monaco.
How does Earth position itself in relation to the rest of the Universe? What does the future hold for us? Amalia Ercoli Finzi, the first woman to graduate in Aeronautical Engineering in Italy, and Giulia Carla Bassani, in addition to talking about their respective careers in the scientific field, will take us on a journey of discovery between comets and planets, including Mars, the so-called Red Planet, which has been the focus of scientists’ attention for years, and the possibility of bringing humans to its surface.
After the summer break, the rich programming of Dante Monaco will resume on October 11 with an unmissable event: the conference “The Challenges of Artificial Intelligence” by the Franciscan Father Paolo Benanti, professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the University of Seattle, advisor to Pope Francis on the themes of artificial intelligence, ethics, and technology, and the only Italian member, since October 2023, of the advisory group on Artificial Intelligence for the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
