Weekend in Menton: Events, Culture and Flavours in the “Pearl of France”

Nestled between the sea and the mountains, just a stone’s throw from the Italian border, Menton is a garden city with a refined Mediterranean charm. Known as the “Pearl of France”, it enchants visitors with its lush gardens, cosmopolitan past, and its unique ability to weave together nature, art, and conviviality.

The weekend of October 11 and 12, 2025, will be the perfect occasion to discover every facet of this Riviera jewel, with a rich program of events celebrating the end of summer through culture, music, and tradition.

Saturday, October 11: Between Music, Science, and Participatory Art

The weekend begins with the conclusion of the 2nd World Sport Fishing Championship, held in the beautiful Baie de Menton, celebrating both sporting passion and the beauty of the sea.

Throughout the day, the Sablettes district will host the “1001 Fresques” workshops. In the morning, children aged 9 to 13 can take part in the Junior Climate Fresco, a fun and educational activity exploring environmental themes. In the afternoon, adults are invited to the Atelier 2 Tonnes, a collective workshop encouraging reflection on climate challenges and sustainable futures.

Meanwhile, at the Théâtre Francis Palmero in the Palais de l’Europe, Les Colloques de Menton will bring together speakers, artists, and intellectuals for a day of debate and cultural dialogue. The evening ends on a harmonious note with the Organ Recital at St John’s Anglican Church (31 avenue Carnot) — an intimate concert highlighting the church’s exceptional acoustics and offering a moment of pure spiritual beauty.

Sunday, October 12: Solidarity, Nature and the Outdoors

Sunday begins with Défi Rose, a major charity event promoting awareness and prevention of breast cancer, held on the Esplanade des Sablettes. A day dedicated to sports, wellness, and solidarity in a festive atmosphere by the sea.

For the occasion, the Promenade du Soleil becomes fully pedestrian, inviting residents and visitors alike to stroll, cycle, or simply enjoy the sea breeze.

In the nearby Parking Rondelli, the Vide Grenier – Police aux Frontières flea market adds a touch of local charm, with vintage items, curiosities, and the friendly atmosphere of a true French brocante.

Nature lovers can take part in the Treasure Hunt at the Val Rahmeh Botanical Garden, a playful exploration of Mediterranean and tropical biodiversity within one of Menton’s most enchanting gardens.

Beyond the Weekend: Museums, Gardens and Exhibitions

Menton’s charm doesn’t fade after two days — its cultural and natural offerings continue for weeks to come.

At the Regional Prehistory Museum, special activities and workshops are held as part of the Fête de la Science (until October 13), offering a fascinating journey into the origins of humanity.

The Casa dou Païgran, open until October 28, takes visitors on a trip through Menton’s daily life of the past, while the exhibition Cocteau – The Castle of Wonders (until November 17) pays tribute to the deep bond between the artist and the city he so loved.

The exhibition Colours of Foliage (until March 31, 2026) celebrates the shades of nature through vivid botanical imagery. Menton’s botanical spirit also flourishes in its famous gardens: Jardin Maria Serena and Jardin Serre de la Madone (open until September 30), and the poetic Fontana Rosa, a timeless harmony of art, literature, and flora.

Until October 26, the Living Soil Festival (2680 route de Super-Garavan) offers talks, workshops, and family activities exploring sustainable agriculture and the vitality of the earth.

Authentic Flavours and Local Traditions

Menton is also a city to be savoured. At the Domaine Gannac in the Garavan district, visitors can explore vineyards and enjoy tastings of local wines. The Brasserie La Mentounasc produces handcrafted beers with Mediterranean character — some infused with Menton’s famous PGI lemons.

Until December 31, the historic Jam Factory opens its doors for guided tastings, celebrating the region’s citrus heritage with the unmistakable sweetness of Menton’s fruits.

Between music and gardens, artistic workshops and solidarity walks, Menton reveals its most authentic self.
