Warning and awareness message regarding the receipt of malicious phone calls.

Residents of the Principality of Monaco are currently receiving malicious phone calls, made from foreign operator numbers, often appearing as “masked”, making any traceability attempts difficult. The scammers mainly call elderly people, presenting themselves as police officers or lawyers and make them believe that a family member has been involved in a serious traffic accident. They ask to gather a significant amount of money (cash, jewelry, etc.) to help them. This is a malicious phone call campaign aimed at scamming potential victims who would respond favorably to the caller’s solicitations. People receiving these calls are invited to:

• NOT RESPOND TO THE CALL
• NOT RESPOND FAVORABLY TO THE CALLER’S SOLICITATIONS
• BLOCK THE PHONE NUMBER
• DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THE POLICE (93.15.30.15)
