Vuelta 2026 in Monaco: The Principality to Host the Grand Departure of Spain’s Iconic Cycling Race

The countdown has begun. From 20 to 23 August 2026, the Principality of Monaco will host the Grand Departure of La Vuelta 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious professional cycling events. For four days, Monaco will become the international hub of the sport, welcoming the official team presentation, the opening individual time trial and the ceremonial start of the race’s second stage.

The event will provide an exceptional global showcase for the Principality, which is preparing to welcome thousands of cycling fans and many of the world’s top riders, further strengthening its reputation as a leading destination for major international sporting events.

La Vuelta 2026 Team Presentation in Casino Square

The festivities will begin on Thursday, 20 August at 6:00 p.m., when the iconic Casino Square hosts the official presentation of the participating teams.

Cycling enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet the riders, watch the team parade and experience the excitement building ahead of the opening stage in one of Monaco’s most prestigious settings.

Opening Time Trial Through Monaco’s Most Iconic Landmarks

The highlight of La Vuelta’s stay in the Principality will take place on Saturday, 22 August, with the 9.4-kilometre individual opening time trial.

The first rider will leave the start ramp at 4:17 p.m. from Casino Square before tackling a spectacular route entirely within Monaco.

The course will pass the Hôtel de Paris and Café de Paris before crossing the Moulins district, the famous Fairmont Hairpin, Larvotto, Port Hercule, Fontvieille, the International Circus Festival tent and Stade Louis II.

The finish line will be located on the legendary Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix finish straight, creating spectacular images that are sure to capture worldwide attention.

Stage 2 to Start from Prince’s Palace Square

La Vuelta will bid farewell to Monaco on Sunday, 23 August, with the ceremonial start of Stage 2 from Prince’s Palace Square.

The peloton will ride through the Jardin Exotique district before leaving the Principality and heading into France, where the stage will conclude in Manosque.
