August brings a rich programme of events to Vence, combining music, culture, antiques and historical memory. In the heart of the town, among its squares and iconic landmarks, three events will take centre stage during the second half of summer: the Les Cordes Latines concert, the return of the Salon des Antiquaires, and the celebrations marking the Liberation of Vence and the Pays Vençois.

Vence, a musical journey between the Mediterranean and Latin America

Music will take centre stage with Les Cordes Latines, a project led by François Arnaud, scheduled for Thursday 13 August at 9 pm in Place Clemenceau.

The evening will offer a musical journey through different traditions, from Italian folk music to Argentine tango, as well as waltzes, South American boleros, bossa nova and Brazilian choro.

The concert brings together different cultures and musical languages, highlighting the connections between the Mediterranean and Latin America. The varied and accessible repertoire is designed to accompany a summer evening in the heart of the town.

Admission is free and the event is open to everyone.

Salon des Antiquaires: the charm of antiques returns to Vence

Until 23 August, Place du Grand Jardin hosts the traditional Salon des Antiquaires, a much-anticipated event for antique and collectibles enthusiasts.

The exhibition features furniture, paintings, jewellery, ceramics, antique books, linen, glassware, works of art and numerous curiosities dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

The event is not aimed solely at collectors. Even for visitors who are not planning to buy anything, the fair offers an opportunity to discover objects that tell stories about different periods, everyday life, fashion and lifestyles of the past.

The Salon des Antiquaires is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, with two special evening openings on 16 and 18 August, until 11 pm.

On 27 August, Vence commemorates the Liberation

The final major event of August will focus on historical memory. On Thursday 27 August, Vence will mark the 82nd anniversary of the Liberation of the town and the Pays Vençois.

The commemorative day will recall the events of August 1944, when the area was liberated from occupation, through a series of activities taking place throughout the day.

The commemorations will run from 10 am to 8.30 pm, bringing the local community together for a day dedicated to remembrance and the history of the region.
