World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 each year by the United Nations to encourage global action in favor of protecting both land and marine environments.
This year’s theme is: “Fighting Plastic Pollution”.

Celebrated in over 100 countries since its launch in 1974, this day has become a global platform for raising public awareness.

The Government has implemented several actions and measures to combat plastic use, including:

  • banning plastic bags since 2016,

  • prohibiting single-use plastic packaging,

  • promoting awareness of alternatives to plastic packaging,

  • organizing beach cleanups…

To mark this awareness day, the Department of the Environment, alongside several committed partners from the Principality, will welcome you to its stand located at the bottom of rue Princesse Caroline, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

A full and friendly program has been specially prepared for you!

🕘 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM: The Department of the Environment and the Ecoscience Provence Association will present alternatives to single-use plastics, how to detect false eco-friendly solutions, and highlight the sustainable practices adopted by local businesses and restaurants. You’ll also be able to take part in “zero plastic” mini-workshops and explore topics on biodiversity and environmental protection.

🕘 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Green Box Monaco will present its zero-waste logistics solutions, including reusable transport containers.

🕤 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM: The Department of Tourism and Conventions will introduce its tools to help foreign visitors sort waste correctly, along with the guide to responsible tourism in the Principality.

🕦 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM: Ecoslowasting will share the secrets of its anti-waste digital platform.

🕜 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM: The Animal Garden (Jardin Animalier) will be represented by Laurent Peyronnel.

🕑 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM: The Energy Transition Mission will present all the benefits of using “Ma Consigne” and how it helps both your health and nature.

🕝 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM: The Monaco City Hall will present “La Petite boîte,” a practical solution to help fight food waste when dining at restaurants.
