Limone Piemonte is ready to write a new chapter in the history of international cycling.
On Sunday, August 24, the renowned Vuelta a España will arrive in the alpine town of Limone Piemonte, with a thrilling mountain finish that promises excitement, a passionate crowd, and global visibility. The second Italian stage of the 2025 edition will start from Alba and, after 159 km through rolling hills and challenging Alpine climbs, will end at Quota 1400, on the forecourt of the ski lifts in Limone Piemonte.
The official presentation of the event took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with the participation of numerous authorities and distinguished guests. Hosting the event was the Mayor of Limone, Massimo Riberi, joined by local and regional institutional representatives, as well as figures from the worlds of sport and tourism. Among the special guests were sports director Giuseppe Martinelli and former pro cyclist Marco Velo, who, together with sports journalist Giorgio Viberti, revisited the magic of the Vuelta through anecdotes and stories from the cycling world.
The stage finish is expected around 5:30 PM and will be accompanied by side events to welcome spectators and highlight both the mountain setting and the hospitality of the local community. On the day of the race, a free train service will be available between Cuneo and Limone (departing Cuneo at 10:15 AM and returning at 8:00 PM), thanks to a partnership with Arenaways, allowing fans to attend without travel concerns.
The weekend will also feature the Cuneo Bike Festival, with workshops focused on sustainable mobility and a special talk on Saturday, August 23, with former cyclist Alessandro Vanotti, author of the book “Gregario”, in conversation with Alvento journalist Stefano Zago. On Sunday, it’s time to celebrate sport and rediscover a region brought back to the spotlight thanks to the recent reopening of the Colle di Tenda tunnel, a key connection point between Italy and France.
The arrival of the Vuelta represents not only a major sporting milestone, but also a powerful opportunity for the promotion and revitalization of Limone Piemonte and the entire province of Cuneo. “We are proud to host a stage of this magnitude,” said Mayor Riberi, “and we are ready to show the world the beauty, warmth, and energy of our community.”
The Piedmont Region has strongly supported this event as a symbol of renewal and international visibility for an Alpine area that has faced difficult times in recent years. “This is a global showcase,” declared President Alberto Cirio, “that blends sport, nature, and identity into a narrative that millions around the world will witness through the Vuelta’s broadcast.”
From the commitment of volunteers to the backing of institutions, everything is in place to welcome the stars of world cycling. And after the race, the stage route will remain open to amateur cyclists—an invitation to follow in the tire tracks of champions and experience the thrill of the Alps first-hand.
