The French Riviera continues to surprise and challenge common assumptions: black truffles are not only the pride of Périgord or Vaucluse, but also thrive in the hills overlooking the Mediterranean. Proof of this is the second edition of the Truffle and Local Producers Market, taking place Sunday, February 15, in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
The event, entirely devoted to Tuber melanosporum and local produce, will be held in the spectacular setting of the Théâtre sur la Mer, overlooking the harbour and the sea, turning this iconic venue into a showcase of the region’s winter agricultural heritage.
While the coastline is the most internationally recognised image of the Riviera, the hinterland of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var preserves a long-established truffle-growing tradition. Thanks to the work carried out over recent decades, black truffles have found a favourable habitat here, confirming the PACA region’s role as a land of excellence.
The market will feature exclusively local truffles and products: no imports and no artificial flavourings. Truffles will be hand-harvested in the days leading up to the event, ensuring freshness, authenticity and full traceability.
More than just a market, the event offers an immersive experience. Visitors will be able to meet producers, enjoy tastings, attend truffle-hunting demonstrations with trained dogs, and learn more about a sustainable agricultural model rooted in traditional know-how.
Among the key figures are four local truffle growers, including Michel Santinelli, President of the PACA Regional Federation of Truffle Growers, and Philippe de Santis, President of the Var Truffle Growers’ Union and owner of the Domaine de Majastre.
Alongside truffles, around 15 exhibitors will present regional specialities such as artisan foie gras, local honey, AOP Bellet wines, saffron, escargots, homemade jams, organic extra virgin olive oil, poultry and eggs from local farms.
There will also be a space dedicated to artisanal crafts, featuring bronze sculptures, porcelain and wood painting, and traditional cutlery.
Throughout the day, visitors can take part in a raffle to win a gourmet hamper, including local products and 150 grams of black truffle. Several restaurants in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat will also offer special truffle-based menus, with exclusive dishes created for Valentine’s Day.
The Truffle and Local Producers Market will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Théâtre sur la Mer.
Free parking is available, and the site is accessible via bus line 15 from Nice.
