On July 5, 2024, the Embassy of the Principality of Monaco in Germany hosted a reception in honor of the 19th Anniversary of the Accession of H.S.H. Prince Albert II at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Berlin.
H.E. Mr. Lorenzo RAVANO welcomed more than 200 guests and friends of the Principality, including representatives from the German Federal Foreign Office, numerous ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, as well as several figures from the economic, financial, and cultural sectors, and members of the German nobility.
The Honorary Consul of Monaco in Potsdam, the co-president of the German International Club of Monaco, as well as several of its members also attended.
In his speech, H.E. Mr. Lorenzo RAVANO highlighted some notable events of recent months, such as the inauguration by the Princely Family on April 25, 2024, of the Monaco section at the Miniatur Wunderland Museum in Hamburg, and the participation of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince at the Arctic Circle Berlin Forum last May, following His scientific cruise in Antarctica.
After emphasizing the close ties between Monaco and Germany and the dynamism of the German community in the Principality, the Ambassador also pointed out that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the Principality’s accession to UNESCO and the 20th anniversary of its entry into the Council of Europe.
In these unstable times, and as calls for an Olympic Truce multiply, H.E. Mr. Lorenzo RAVANO also invited guests to observe a moment of silence in honor of the victims of conflicts and terrorism around the world.
Finally, as Germany is currently hosting EURO 2024 football, the Ambassador highlighted the tradition and sporting excellence of the Principality, citing the passage of the Olympic flame, the start of the final stage of the 2024 Tour de France, and individual and collective success stories, such as that of Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque Formula 1 driver victorious on his home turf last May.
Dr. Sven MOSSLER, Head of the Division for Bilateral Relations with Monaco, representing the Federal Foreign Office, also praised the excellent relations between the two countries and stressed the importance of having a partner like the Principality, particularly in international forums, to defend the rule of law, combat climate change, and protect the seas.
