A season to collect: art, history and creativity take centre stage in Monaco
From July to September 2025, Monaco becomes a vibrant hub of culture and creativity. A rich line-up of exhibitions offers something for every taste—from 20th-century masterpieces and fashion icons to cacti-themed artworks and contemporary creations. Here are the season’s top highlights.
Grimaldi Forum Monaco | 8 July – 31 August 2025
An immersive journey through the colours of the 20th century, featuring over 100 works from the Centre Pompidou’s collection. From Matisse to Basquiat, this multi-sensory experience includes music, scent, and design, curated by Didier Ottinger with scenography by William Chatelain.
Villa Paloma – Nouveau Musée National de Monaco | 19 June – 5 October 2025
A tribute to Chanel’s revolutionary style on the French Riviera. The exhibition showcases her 1920s designs in dialogue with the modern artists who inspired her, including Picasso, Cocteau and Delaunay. A parallel installation by Chloé Royer explores the metamorphosis of the female body.
Villa Sauber – Nouveau Musée National de Monaco | 6 July 2025 – 11 January 2026
From Brassaï’s photos to Hockney’s drawings, this show explores the aesthetic and symbolic power of succulents in art, design and climate discourse. A living cactus garden in Villa Sauber’s grounds completes the experience.
Grimaldi Forum Monaco | 11 July – 31 August 2025
This historical exhibition reveals Monaco’s little-known connections with the Napoleonic era, featuring rare archives, artefacts and private collections. Organised under the patronage of Prince Albert II, the event unites history, art and heritage.
7 – 12 July 2025 | Various venues
Fifteen galleries and auction houses join forces for a citywide art journey. From Annie Leibovitz at Hauser & Wirth to themed group shows on street art and landscapes, the week is a celebration of creative diversity. Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Artcurial also take part with exclusive events.
