Summer at the MAR in Ventimiglia: emotions through history, art and nature

Discover the magic of summer at the MAR in Ventimiglia!

From July 1st to August 31st, the “Girolamo Rossi” Civic Archaeological Museum offers a vibrant program of activities designed to engage both adults and children through archaeology, contemporary art, nature, and play.

Evening openings and art exhibitions
The museum extends its hours with special evening openings every Friday and Sunday from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The summer exhibition season opens on Thursday, July 3rd at 4:00 PM with the vernissage of “From Earth to Light”, a show by artist Kevin Flynn, on display until July 27th.

Talks and excursions among ancient rock art and mountain landscapes
On Friday, July 4th at 9:15 PM, Danila Allaria and Ivano Ferrando will lead a conversation with video projections comparing the rock carvings of the Valley of Wonders and Val Camonica, introducing the guided hike to Fontanalba scheduled for Sunday, July 6th.

On Thursday, July 17th, the MAR will organize an educational trip on the “Train of Wonders” to Tende and the Musée des Merveilles, marking the 107th anniversary of Clarence Bicknell’s death. Departure from Ventimiglia at 10:39 AM, return from Tende at 6:32 PM.

Family activities and candlelight visits
Every Saturday morning from July 5th, the museum invites families with children to join in playful activities involving intuition, observation, and creativity. On Sunday, July 13th and 27th at 9:15 PM, the popular event “The Museum under the Stars” returns, featuring video projections and candlelight tours to explore the museum in a more immersive and atmospheric way.

Workshops for everyone
Throughout the summer, visitors of all ages (from 6 to 99!) can take part in fun, educational workshops inspired by the museum’s collection—reservations required.
