The startup Sea Further marks an important milestone for innovation in the Principality of Monaco. It is the first startup incubated at MonacoTech to be selected as part of an industrialization call supported by Horizon Europe, the European Union’s main funding program for research and innovation, led by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
Among hundreds of applications from across the European Union, this distinction rewards several years of research and development carried out by Valentino Iakimov, founder of Sea Further. His work focuses on bio-optimized carbon produced through an internationally patented biological process.
Committed to environmental sustainability, the company develops graphene modified using marine microorganisms. This innovative technology improves the performance of hydrogen fuel cells, batteries, and energy storage or conversion systems, while significantly reducing the use of rare metals.
This recognition continues the strong and determined commitment of the Princely Government, particularly the Department of Finance and Economy and the Directorate of Economic Development, to supporting startups and innovation.
This support took the form of personalized guidance during the application phase of the program, as well as participation in the financing of the research project—two key factors that contributed decisively to this success.
MonacoTech is proud of the major success achieved by Sea Further.
